The cover which illustrates matching experimental and modeling results of the potential distribution of ionic liquids under applied electrical perturbation. XPS provides an experimental probe of the local potential and modeling that can be done through simple electrostatics in addition to the pairing equilibrium. The unexpected result of both the experiment and the model is the transient response of the electrochemical double layer at distances exceeding millimeters.
