Zoom Meeting ID: 729 064 5404

Zoom Passcode: 723291

Abstract:

Surface phenomena lie at the heart of performance, safety, and longevity in modern battery systems. In this seminar, I will share insights from over a decade of international research and development across lithium-ion, solid-state, and aqueous rechargeable battery technologies. My work focuses on the synthesis and processing of advanced solid electrolytes including oxide-salt, sulfide, and halide systems and their integration with high-energy active materials such as LCO, NCM, LNMO, and LFP.

A key theme is the engineering of interfaces: from ceramic nanopowder coatings and thin-film deposition to high-pressure sintering and vacuum processing. These approaches aim to stabilize interfacial reactions, enhance ionic conductivity, and mitigate degradation mechanisms. I will also discuss safer alternatives to conventional LIBs, including aqueous and multivalent systems, which offer promising pathways toward high energy density and environmental compatibility.

Drawing on experience from AIT, SINTEF, Samsung SDI, and academic collaborations, I will highlight how surface science, electrochemical characterization, and validation logic converge to guide innovation. This seminar invites dialogue on scalable, safe, and high-performance battery technologies and the role of rigorous evaluation in shaping their future.
